Lack of affordability is a major barrier to medicines access in many countries. It can result in ethnic and other inequities in medicines use and these have been documented in New Zealand. We aimed to understand the lived experience of barriers to accessing medicines faced by groups that are likely to encounter them, and to explore how they played out over time. This paper presents results related to affordability.
Levesque et al.’s widely-cited five dimensional model of access to healthcare has been used in a variety of contexts, including access to medicines.
The objective of the study is to conduct a systematic review and methodological quality appraisal on studies reporting the development of health and wellbeing outcome measures for Māori (Indigenous people of New Zealand), identify common features and processes, and critically appraise the measures using the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN).
